The Adventure Hub Hiding in Plain Sight
|
Although we sit just three hours south of the "Mountain Bike Capital of the World" and an hour from the iconic trails of Hot Springs, Little Rock holds its own as a premier destination where outdoor adventure meets urban. Oh, did I mention we have THREE IMBA Epic Trails within a two hour drive?
As a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community, Little Rock is already home to the iconic Big Dam Bridge and the world-class Monument Trails at our doorstep. From hundreds of miles of flat gravel in the Arkansas River Valley and Mississippi Alluvial Plain (also called The Delta) to the rugged climbs of the Ouachita National Forest, and the many local and city park trails (see our local trails page), we offer every kind of ride--and we’re just getting started! |
True Pick-Your-Adventure City
|
Little Rock is uniquely situated at the crossroads of three distinct geographic regions: The Ouachita Mountains, The Arkansas River Valley and The Mississippi Alluvial Plain.
This convergence creates a playground of unmatched diversity. You can tackle technical mountain bike climbs with scenic vistas in the morning (River Mountain Trail System), cruise through a tunnel of 100+ year old Pecans planted along a straight, flat road after lunch. If you crave deep wilderness, the Ouachita National Forest is just 45 minutes west, offering 1.7 million acres of wilderness with miles of gravel roads and 177 miles of the Ouachita Trail. |
Need a break from the saddle? Take a float through a cathedral of Cypress in one of our wetlands for a serene change of pace. Did I mention you could fit that in before sunset and still make your dinner reservations? As the state’s largest metro, we offer the urban side of adventure that remote outposts can't match. You can ride from a hotel to a trailhead, then finish your day at a local brewery, award-winning restaurant or a local dive.

The Path Forward
We’re on a mission to put Little Rock on the global map. As locals, we know this "city in a park" is special; but we’re not stopping there. With your help, CATA is leveling up to earn Little Rock IMBA's Trail Town status and pave the way for a Bronze Ride Center designation in the coming years.
